Rod Simmons – Owner/ Head Coach

Coach Simmons is entering his 30th year of coaching.  Coach Simmons coached in the EOJHL and CCHL in Eastern Ontario and the SUNYAC of the NCAA, prior to founding Simmons Hockey and starting the Fighting Spirit Program.  He has been named Coach of the Year 4 times in 2 different leagues and has coached players who have gone on to play Division I, II and III college as well as professional hockey.  Coach Simmons brings a true developmental philosophy to the game.  He believes in hard work, dedication and constant progression. Rod’s goal is to produce well rounded student/athletes that advance to the next level.

Lisa Simmons – Skating Specialist

Lisa brings 30 plus years of coaching experience and sports management to the Fighting Spirit program. She was the power skating instructor for the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL as well as working for the Ottawa Senators, NY Islanders and Philidelphia Flyers of the NHL.  Over the years, Lisa has instructed numerous professional, NCAA and junior players.  Lisa is committed to the advancement of sports, the development of athletes and the promotion of education. Her goal is to pass on her knowledge, experience and passion of the sport to all the players she works with.

Cam Robichaud – Assistant Coach/Strength Conditioning

Coach Robichaud is entering his 6th year as a coach and 2nd with the L/A Fighting Spirit. Coach Robichaud has coached at the U14, U18, High School, Jr. B and Jr. A level. Cam has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management/Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University. Prior to college, Cam played juniors for the Nepean Raiders in the CCHL.  Cam is the owner of PucDevelopment Hockey Training Facility. Coach Robichaud’s goal is to help players reach their full potential as a student/athletes.

Ty Simmons – Assistant Coach

Coach Ty Simmons is returning to the Fighting Spirit for his 3rd year as assistant coach after finishing his collegiate career with Morrisville State College (SUNYAC), as well as the University of Southern Maine (ECAC EAST).  Prior to playing college hockey, Ty played three years at National Sports Academy, two of which he led as captain.  Ty completed his junior career by captaining the Fighting Spirit to a league championship in their inaugural season.  Coach Ty looks to bring a fresh enthusiasm along with his experience in college hockey to help develop young athletes. 

Veronica Whyte – Skating Specialist

Veronica has 8 years of power skating coaching experience in Canada and is entering her 2nd year with the Fighting Spirit. Veronica was trained by Lisa Simmons and carries on her dedication to player development. She has worked with players at the Jr. A, Major Junior, and NHL levels as well as with hockey academy and prep school organizations in Ottawa, Ontario. As a skater she is internationally recognized for achieving Gold status in all 4 figure skating disciplines. Veronica will work hard to help players reach their maximum potential so they can accomplish their goals.
